How Did Bheem Killed Bakasur Funny Answer
The Story of Ekachakrapura
After bidding goodbye to his wife Hidimbi and his baby in her womb, Bhima along with his family moved towards the city of Ekachakrapura. As they moved into the city, they found something unusual about the place. A strange gloom had covered the city of Ekachakrapura. People moved about in silence, and each person seemed to carry mysterious sorrow. The Pandavas walked unrecognised among the people, and reached the house of a potter. They decided to stay there for sometime. In olden days, there were no lodges like today for tourists to retire. They used to choose a house, persuade the owner and stay there for sometime. In return, they used to help the owners in their day-to-day chores. Also, the house owners perceived service to a guest as a service to God himself (Athidi Devo Bhavah).
Coming back to the story, the Pandavas along with their mother Kunti decided to stay at the potter's house. Kunti helped the potter's family in household duties while Pandavas lent their hand in selling the pots made by the potter. One day Kunti heard a deep noise of weeping and wailing from the potter's family. She hurried to see them and persuaded them to tell her the reason behind their sorrow. They told that their city was under the sway of a demon called Bakasura who had sneaked into the village one day, looted the people, killed them and ruined their fields. The king of Ekachakrapura, along with his ministers fled, leaving the citizens to defend themselves. Unable to face the fearsome demon Bakasura, the fear stricken people of Ekachakrapura made an agreement with Bakasura. According to the deal, they would send him a human being and a bullock cart fully loaded with food everyday. The human, food and the bullocks made Baka's meal, with the empty cart returned for the next trip. "It's our family's turn tomorrow", said the potter's wife with tears streaming out of her sad red eyes. "Someone from our family has to sacrifice their life for the sake of that monstrous creature". Looking at her, Kunti felt very sad. She thought of helping them by sending his son Bhima to kill the demon.
The Sun has almost down the horizon, with a half moon taking over the kingdom of sky. All the birds reached their houses happily after a busy day. Pandavas came back home after helping the potter at work. Kunti immediately went to them and explained the situation. She also shared the idea of sending Bhima to face the demon, with them. Yudhistira, after giving brief thought to it, raised the biggest loophole in the plan. If Bhima faces Bakasura, their identity would be revealed and Duryodhana would know their location. So, he suggested that they should take an oath from the people of Ekachakrapura, that they would not reveal to anyone that the Pandavas have come there. All were fine with the idea, consequently, Bhima faced Bakasura bravely, and thrashed him to death. The happiness in the kingdom of Ekachakrapura was restored. People thought that God himself had sent Pandavas to pull them out of this sorrow. They promised not to reveal their identity. Pandavas went onto stay there for some more time. After some days, they spotted some spies from the kingdom of Hastinapura and felt that it was not safe to stay there anymore. They handed over the responsibility of the kingdom to a trustworthy man they met there. Bidding goodbye to the all the citizens of Ekachakrapura, Pandavas, along with Kunti went onto search for another place to live in hiding for some more time.
This story may sound simple and predictive. The important things that one should absorb from it are:
- One should never forget the help they get from someone. The potter's family, which was financially poor, gave shelter in spite of their economic condition. Kunti realised this, and she waited to repay the debt. That was the reason why Kunti thought of taking a risk by sending his son Bhima, which may reveal their identity.
- Kunti is one of the best administrators in Mahabharat. She raised her 5 sons alone, without the support of anyone. She also carried the pain of throwing away her child Karna, throughout her life. In spite of all this, she stayed calm and balanced. Before taking an important decision, one should listen to the views and suggestions of others. That would help us dig out the error which was not found previously. Kunti always consulted Pandavas, especially Yudistira, before taking a decision.
There are many more things one can learn, even from a small story from the Mahabharat. Let us know in the comments section, what you learnt from this story and also your views about Kunti's character.
In the coming articles, i will be introducing you to Draupadi, one of the most important characters in Mahabharat.
